Biggest Container Ship Direct Call Jakarta to America

Exporters and logistics players at the Tanjung Priok Port positively welcome the presence of a direct call service for the Jakarta – United States route by CMA CGM Columbus JAX (JAX) with a capacity of 16,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs), starting Monday (31/10/2022) .

The direct call is to facilitate export trade between Indonesia and the United States. This inaugural visit of a container ship with a capacity of 16,000 TEUs is the first of three series of 16,000 TEUs belonging to CMA CGM which will also dock at the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT).

After hearing about the Alexander Von Humboldt ship measuring 16,000 TEUs, which is the largest container ship serving the Jakarta-US direct call, Irwandy hopes that the export logistics costs for this route can be more efficient.

Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI), Adil Karim, revealed that the efficiency of shipping logistics costs (ocean freight) with direct calls can be more efficient and the service schedule is also measurable.

As is known, the Alexander Von Humboldt ship measuring 16,000 TEUs belonging to CMA CGM docked at Tanjung Priok Port on Monday (31/10). The berth of the large ship is a sign that Indonesian ports are in demand by shipping operators to serve international trade.

The government also ensures that it will maximize the role of Tanjung Priok Ports in Jakarta and Patimban, Subang, West Java. Especially in developing logistics hub ports in Indonesia.

JAX Services also offers seamless connectivity to the US East Coast and West Coast with a transition time of 34 days and increased industrial transit times. JAX services deliver local products and manufactured products such as paper, rubber, garments and electronics from Indonesia to North America every week.
